Funds Raised by FA-GKC Outreach Committee Reaches Beneficiaries
by Dr. Lillian Pardo
February 2014

The two beneficiaries of our Haiyan Relief fundraising efforts have received their share of the proceeds!

Dr. Lillian Pardo, representing the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City (FA-GKC), delivered a check for PhP 135,000 to Sister Mary Vincent of St. Scholastica’s College to help rebuild their hospital in Tacloban, Leyte, damaged by typhoon Yolanda.

The Outreach Committee designated the College as one of two beneficiaries of the fundraising held in November.

Witnessing the turnover of funds held at the College on Leon Guinto Street in Malate, Manila is Ms. Marilou Vicencio, former classmate of FA-GKC Board Chair Dr. Mila Tiojanco at that school.

The other beneficiary of the Yolanda typhoon fundraising was an entrepreneurial group of business-women, SHEO. Their check in the amount of PhP 180,000 was also delivered by Dr. Pardo. Their funds will be used to rebuild houses in Leyte. Recipients of both donations have expressed their deep gratitude for FA-GKC for our concern and involvement.
