  We Made It!

May 2014

Thank you for being my partners at the first Asian Cultural Festival. Because of you, our Festival was a great success. This Festival is for all of us - all 15 Asian country organizations. You did a wonderful job to make this event happen, and I am very proud of all of you! You will have more time to promote your own association's holidays and events next year at this event.

Looking back at history, every Asian organization in the city has each done its own wonderful event. But if we can have a chance to share our 15 country’s cultures together, we will be bigger and stronger. So we did it! We made history in Kansas City.

I want to thank the volunteers from each of our associations. Their hard work made this Festival successful. Congratulations to the Thai Cultural Center, winner of our Outstanding Volunteer Team! They put a lot of extra time in preparation, and also sent 20 volunteers to help during the event. Also, congratulations to our nine outstanding students! I am so glad that the Lt. Governor of Kansas issued the awards. We are so proud that the best GPA among the students is 4.85, who represents the Indian Association!

We will continue doing this Festival for many years to come! Together we can promote our cultures better than before. We can bring greater awareness, develop common interests, and bring Asia’s most famous attractions to Kansas City.

Looking ahead to next year, we still have much work to do. I hope each country will do one term co-organizing the Festival. Which country wants to be the first? I will still do the fundraising to help our Foundation. The greater involvement of each association will make each partner better understand our organization and feel to be part of this group. If your association is interested, please let me know.

With warm regards,
Carol Wei, Mid-America Asian Culture Association President
